August Bags

Here are all the bags I made over this first beautiful weekend in August:
I've been working on them all for some time.  The small bags were all started last summer when I was putting together bags to sell at the annual pride fest here in Fredericton.  Of course I made so so many and just didn't have time to complete all of them so now I get to play with the designs a little bit more- its so fun.  The one in the middle and below is a bag that I starts a long time ago- another landscape collage bag.

and the back of the landscape bag:

Mike thought these circles looked like fruit!  Truth be told I was just playing with shapes.

Joelly is so sweet and offered to model some of the bags for me:

He thinks having a serious expression makes the bags look more artsy..

Mermaid Painting Complete!

So I finally completed my mermaid painting.  Each time I look at it I get the urge to take it off the wall and keep fixing things I see that could be improved but for now its finished.

I had a lot of fun with it and I am so proud that -what feels like a year- its finally done.  Below the mermaid painting is another painting that I've been working on for much longer.  It is slowly making its way towards being finished but its no where near done.  Still I like to post paintings in progress so there you have it.

My First Wallet!

This past weekend I decided to make myself a new wallet.  My old one had completely fallen apart and I was sick of using it anyways.  Since I first started my carrotpyn business I've had the nagging sense in the back of my head that I should be using a homemade wallet made by me!  I mean, come on, its free advertising pretty much - every time I take out  my wallet to make a purchase I am showing off my product.  And you never know when someone might take notice and say that they like it- which gives me an opportunity to give them a business card...

So here it is:

Please excuse the bad lighting.  I finished it last night and didn't feel like trying to hard to get everything just right.  The light from the day was gone and all I had to work with was my dimming kitchen light so there you have it.

I used some batik fabric which I picked up while in Indonesia last month!  I wish I could have brought back more but there was not enough room in my bag to fit everything.  I hope to go back someday.  Yogyakarta is a beautiful vibrant city.  I've been told Bali is a must see, so its now on my agenda.

Recently finished and in progress

Here is a headband/ear-warmer that I just completed for my close friend- it was my first time using a pattern !  and It was really not as hard as I thought it would be but I had plenty of help from the owner of Yarns on York- she is an excellent teacher.

Of course I have to incorporate a picture of Angie in here when she is being adorable!

These paintings are not yet complete... Can you tell what the one on the left will be?

The past few months have been a bit insane.  Lets just say I had a lot on my plate.  My time is starting to open up a little bit more and I am committed to putting more time towards my craft now that I can.

I recently made two trips to Boston and Montreal

Here is Boston:
